Caroline Rudge painting with Jonah

Artist Caroline completed a BA in Fine Art at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff in 2002, and has been working in a professional capacity since then.

Caroline has painted David Hockney set designs for Cardiff Theatrical Services and displays for the Kneehigh Theatre. She has one collection of paintings and murals in 'The Olde Bath Arms' in Frome and another in ‘Cubros’, a restaurant in Midsomer Norton. She has also recently produced large portraits for Standard Chartered’s Headquarters in London.

Caroline's long-standing interest in portraying animals in her art stems from her empathy with the animals she depicts, which helps to convey a character and depth sometimes lacking in traditional animal studies. Her contemporary and individualistic approach to the subject stems from her belief that each animal is unique, and so deserves a painterly response suited to their character.

As well as pet portraits, Caroline also paints people. Her detailed and intricate studies have been exhibited in major exhibitions throughout the UK, including the Holburne Portrait Prize and Royal Society of Portrait Painters.

Caroline works in Corsham, Wiltshire and lives with her partner John (sculptor), Jonah the Border Collie, and Pip the beautiful tabby cat!
